What is the purpose of Theta Tau?The purpose of Theta Tau is to commit to promoting professional interest among all its members, encouraging diversity, strengthening a sense of brotherhood, and serving its community. By encouraging these values, the fraternity crafts lasting relationships both inside and outside its network and future leaders in society.

Why join Theta Tau?Theta Tau can support you in your professional endeavors in the field of engineering. As a close-knit family, our Membership across all Chapters upholds a standard of excellence while embodying our Pillars of Brotherhood, Service, and Professional Development.

Is joining Theta Tau competitive?Yes, Theta Tau upholds a standard of Interview after approval of application for consideration of affiliation. As is the case with entering all forms of professional school, the professional interview is an integral part in professional development and education.

What financial commitments will be expected of me?The expected financial commitment of an Active Member at the Chapter-level is established at the discretion of the respective Chapters. The expected financial commitment of an Active Member at the National-level is established at the discretion of the National Executive Committee. The expected financial commitment of a Prospective Member undergoing Expansion is established at the discretion of the National Director of Expansion. Theta Tau upholds a standard of minimizing all financial obligations at all levels to ensure minimum financial impact on our students.

Does this fraternity haze?Theta Tau has an absolute no hazing policy and the Theta Beta Chapter abides.

What time commitments will be expected of me?The expected time commitment of an Active Member at a given Chapter is established at the discretion of the respective Chapters, and can range around 4-6 hours weekly. The expected time commitment of a Prospective Member undergoing Expansion is established at the discretion of the National Director of Expansion, and can range around 4-6 hours weekly. Theta Tau is first and foremost an extracurricular activity, and all students are advised to only seek affiliation if time management and availability permits

Who can join Theta Tau?All undergraduate students currently registered and attending a collegiate institution with a pre-existing Chapter are allowed to join Theta Tau if in good standing. All undergraduate students currently registered and attending a collegiate institution without a pre-existing Chapter are allowed to pursue Expansion of Theta Tau to their collegiate institution. Theta Tau and its affiliates do not discriminate on the basis of age, ethnicity, nationality, sexual identity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, ideology, socioeconomic status, documentation status, or other demographic.

Does Theta Tau require fraternity housing?All Theta Tau Chapters across the nation function like a University Club (Registered Student Organization), and thus do not require or provide housing.

What makes Professional and Social Greek Organizations different?Professional Greek Organizations (PGOs) have primary focus in uniting students of similar professional endeavors, no matter the undergraduate track they are on at the time of affiliation. Social Greek Organizations, more commonly called Greek Lettered Organizations (GLOs) in general, have primary focus in uniting students of similar backgrounds, no matter their professional calling. Professional and Social organizations have many areas of overlap and both provide different networks for their affiliates.

What are the benefits of joining Theta Tau?Theta Tau provides networking opportunities and specific membership benefits to all affiliates. The Alumni Membership is composed of an ever-growing number of engineering professionals who make a personal effort toward professional development of the students they mentor. Affiliates are provided discounted rates through established partnerships and specific members-only access to Fraternity resources.
